The crisis in Sudan: the interests and logic of Russia's actions

The crisis in Sudan: the interests and logic of Russia's actions
The hostilities that broke out in Sudan on April 15 became unpleasant news for the Russian Federation because the instability in this East African country threatens to undermine Moscow's regional position and some of its commercial projects. Chaos and permanent political crisis do not allow the Russian Federation to expand its military presence on the coast of the Red Sea, strengthen ties with the ruling elites, and continue its usual business in mineral extraction. Regional states have undertaken efforts to resolve the crisis. At the same time, the Kremlin has rather limited capabilities and resources. Therefore, as a result of the mediation efforts of other players, the balance of power in Sudan may change not in favor of Russia.
